HARC Awards Entry Requirements

To be eligible for award consideration, all entries must fulfill the following requirements:

• Include a correctly completed Official Application and Entry Form.

• Include a One-Page Essay that describes why the cash award is needed and how the proceeds will be utilized.

• Creative submissions must follow entry specifications, formats and materials appropriate to the art discipline.

• Comply with all competition rules.

• Adhere to mailing instructions and deadlines for postmarks and receipt of entry.


HARC Awards Entry Specifications

FINE ARTS 


Painting:  
Please send a 35mm slide or a 5 x 7 slide x 300 dpi burned onto a CD of your work. Mark with your name, title of work and actual dimensions of the painting.

 

Sculpture:  Please send a series of up to three (3) 35mm slides or up to three (3)

5 x 7 slides x 300 dpi burned onto a CD to represent the front, rear and side view perspectives. Mark each with your name, title of work and actual dimensions of the sculpture.

xVISUAL ARTS

Photography:  Please send a duplicate of original 35mm slide or a 5 x 7 slide x 300 dpi burned onto a CD. Mark with your name, title of work and location (if appropriate).

 

Cinematography/Videography/Filmmaking Entries:
Please send a DVD minimum five (5) minutes in length but not to exceed ten (10) minutes duration of short subject film, music video, documentary or feature film (excerpt only). Documentary or feature film may be proposed new work not yet completed but in the process of development.

Send each entry together with story synopsis, story treatment or complete script of work and any elements necessary to describe the work such as sound and/or music. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time.

Multi-Media:  Including works or installations encompassing Fine Art, Photography, Music and Film/Video, please send 35mm slide(s) or 5 x 7 slide(s) x 300 dpi burned onto a CD plus audio and video/CD & DVD (up to 5 minutes only) of installation/presentation that effectively represents your multi-media submission. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time(s).

xMUSIC  

Instrumental/Orchestral Entries:
Please send CD not to exceed ten (10) minutes duration of instrumental or orchestral work (excerpt only) together with full score of entire composition. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time.

Musical Theatre/Opera Entries:
Please send CD not to exceed ten (10) minutes duration of musical theatre or opera work (excerpts only) together with libretto/book, lyrics and full score. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time.

Song & Words Entries:
Please send CD not to exceed five (5) minutes duration of song (music and words) together with music/arrangement and lyric sheets. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time.

LITERATURE

Poetry Entries:
Please send a single-spaced typewritten and stapled in the left-hand corner copy of poem not to exceed sixty (60) lines in length. Mark title page with title and line count only. Your name should not appear on the poem. Include separate cover sheet with your name, address, email, telephone, title of work and line count.

Short Story Entries:
Please send a double-spaced typewritten, presentation cover bound copy of short story not to exceed 3,000 words in length. Mark title page with title and word count only. Your name should not appear on the short story. Include separate cover sheet with your name, address, email, telephone, title of work and word count.

Stage Play Entries:
Please send a double-spaced typewritten, presentation cover bound copy of stage play not to exceed ninety (90) minutes duration with maximum six (6) Players in maximum three (3) Acts. Mark title page with title and running time only. Your name should not appear on the play. Include separate cover sheet with your name, address, email, telephone, title of work and running time.

CHOREOGRAPHY/DANCE    

Choreography/Dance Entries:
Please send a DVD minimum five (5) minutes in length but not to exceed ten (10) minutes in length (excerpts permitted) of original choreography of proposed new work already in process of development. Or, if necessary, send DVD per above of recent original choreography of completed work similar in style to new work being proposed for development.

All dance styles acceptable unless a particular style is specified in the Call for Entries. Must be a full evening of dance; length of work not to exceed ninety (90) minutes duration. Two or three themed pieces are acceptable. Send together with story synopsis, story treatment or complete description of work and any elements necessary to describe the work such as sound and/or music. Mark each with your name, title of work and running time.
